Mr Leonard Jacobs - Orthopaedic SurgeonMr Jacobs qualified MBChB in 1975 from University of Cape Town, South Africa and spent the next 5½ working in Namibia where he developed his interest in Orthopaedic Surgery.  This period included a 2 year military service.  Mr Jacobs then moved to the UK in 1981 and started his training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.  He achieved the FRCS in 1986.  Mr Jacobs then obtained his FRCSED Orth in 1993 and was eligible for entry on to the GMC Specialist register.  His CCST date was 1st January 1994.

Mr Jacobs was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (with interest in Upper Limb Surgery) at Royal Oldham Hospital on 1st January 1994.  He then set about the development of an Upper Limb service in Oldham and introduced Shoulder Arthroscopy and Shoulder Joint Replacements, which were new to Oldham.  Mr Jacobs sub-specialised entirely in 1998 so that from then on he only undertook surgery for Upper Limb problems (80% Shoulder conditions) in the NHS and the private sector.
